How your donations are used

All private donations go towards sample collection for our reference library. Your donations fund expert sample collectors working in the field in countries all over the world. The laboratory costs of analysing each sample and the operational costs of World Forest ID, including the salaries of all staff, are funded by governments and other international institutions. It costs around $100k to collect 1000 samples and we need around 500,000 samples to complete the library, which we aim to do by 2030. The cost we estimate for gathering samples takes into account the remoteness of many of the intact forests we aim to collect from. A donation pays for kitting out and running expeditions as well as the collection kits themselves.
