Charles (Chip) Barber

Charles “Chip” Barber is the Director for Natural Resources Governance and Policy at WRI’s Global Forests Program, managing the Forest Legality Initiative and the Nature Crime Alliance. He joined WRI in 2014, after serving as Forest Division Chief at the U.S. Department of State and Environmental Advisor at USAID. Chip was also WRI’s first full-time overseas employee in the Philippines. As an independent consultant from 2001 to 2004, he worked with organizations like the World Bank and The Nature Conservancy. He holds a B.A. from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and an M.A., J.D., and Ph.D. from UC Berkeley.
