Advances in data modeling extend the reach of chemical timber testing

Two new peer-reviewed World Forest ID papers show how modeling can extend the reach of existing sample data: by inferring target-genus chemistry from related genera, and by using environmental data to rule out implausible harvest areas.

This Insight summarizes the findings of both papers and sets out their applicability to industry and enforcement contexts, making chemical traceability more viable in data-scarce environments, and more actionable for traceability legislation.

THE INSIGHT SERIES

World Forest ID’s Insight series is designed to communicate the outputs of our long form research, by summarizing data snapshots and interim learning.
