Help us develop a new way to verify cattle origin
Verified origin is becoming a real asset for farms. It's evidence you can point to when a buyer asks where your cattle were raised. World Forest ID is researching whether a natural chemical fingerprint can provide that evidence. This fingerprint is shaped by the soil, water and grass where cattle are raised. We're looking for farms that can trace identified animals from farm to slaughter. We send a trained collector to you, cover all sampling costs, and keep your farm's information confidential. Participating farms can also request a metals screening and micronutrient profile for their beef.
How it works
COLLECT FARM AND ANIMAL SAMPLES — At the farm, trained collectors take samples of water, grass and feed. At slaughter, they collect small samples of tail hair, meat and skin from cattle linked to that farm.
BUILD THE ORIGIN MODEL — Our laboratory partners compare chemical fingerprints in the farm and animal samples to build a model linking cattle products to where animals were raised.
EVALUATE PRODUCT ORIGIN — A small sample from a cattle product is analyzed and compared with the model, creating independent evidence a producer can use to support their own origin claims. Testing is always carried out confidentially.
