Help develop a new way to verify cattle origin
As buyers seek clearer evidence of where cattle were raised, science-based origin verification could help farms maintain market access and distinguish traceable production from unverified supply. World Forest ID is developing this approach and is seeking farms that can trace identified animals from farm to slaughter. We arrange and cover the cost of sampling, keep farm information confidential, and can also provide metals screening and a micronutrient profile for participating farms.
How it works
COLLECT FARM AND ANIMAL SAMPLES — At the farm, trained collectors take samples of water, grass and feed. At slaughter, they collect tail hair, meat and skin from cattle linked to that farm.
BUILD THE ORIGIN MODEL — Our laboratory partners compare chemical signals in the farm and animal samples to build a model linking cattle products to where animals were raised.
EVALUATE PRODUCT ORIGIN — A small sample from a cattle product is analyzed and compared with the model. The resulting report provides independent evidence to support credible origin claims.
